WHAT IS BRUXISM TREATMENT WITH BOTOX?

Bruxism is a problem that patients experience mainly at night. It is manifested by involuntary contraction of muscles and friction of teeth, which can cause enamel abrasions, headaches and neck pain, impaired saliva production and general discomfort.

Oneof the methods of bruxism treatment is the administration of botulinum toxin, commonly known as botox. It is injected into the masseter muscles, where it reduces and weakens their activity, preventing their overreaction, reduces tension and pain.

INDICATIONS:

Your doctor will inject the right dose of botulinum toxin to the mandible area with a thin needle. The treatment is considered as fast and simple.

The sensations during the treatment are individual and dependent on the patient's pain threshold. During the treatment, the patient may experience gentle pricks related to injection. Nevertheless, bruxism treatment with Botox is considered as a rapid and non-painful procedure that does not require any anaesthesia.

The treatment effect may vary from patient to patient. This is affected by various factors, including i.a. age, type of problem, amount of preparation used, individual predisposition of the patient. 
The effect usually lasts about 6 months and it is recommended to repeat the treatment afterwards. 

For a few hours after the treatment you should not tilt your head, lean or lie down.
For 24 hours after the treatment it is worth to avoid sauna, swimming pool and intense workouts. It is also worth to avoid drinking alcohol.
