WHAT IS MIGRAINE TREATMENT WITH BOTOX?

Migraine is a repetitive, most often unilateral, pulsating headache that is characterized by varying degrees of severity and frequency. Headaches may be accompanied by hypersensitivity to odours, light and sounds. Nausea and vomiting may also occur. 

Migraine attacks very often prevent from doing even the simplest tasks - which is why migraine is a condition that makes everyday life difficult and detrimental to the quality of life. Treatments with botulinum toxin, commonly referred to as Botox, are one of the methods of migraine treatment. 

Such treatment consists in application of Botox to specifically selected sites on the head. This leads to relaxation and reduction of pressure on the nerves that are responsible for migraine attacks. 

The treatment is aimed at people suffering from chronic migraine headaches.

Your doctor will inject Botox with a special needle to specifically selected sites on the head. This leads to relaxation and reduction of pressure on the nerves that are responsible for migraine attacks. 

The sensations during the treatment are individual and dependent on the patient's pain threshold. The procedure may cause some discomfort related to injection - you may feel light pricks and tingling. Nevertheless, migraine treatment with Botox considered as a rapid and non-painful procedure that does not require any anaesthesia.

Within 24 hours after the treatment, you should reduce physical activity and also avoid drinking alcohol.
